I am a very busy hairdresser, I have noticed over the years a number of my customers have had that ‘normal’ hair thinning that happens as you get older, I have always sympathised and commented that it happens to lots of people ‘even my mum’.
I felt sympathy of course but what could I do, it is what happens. Some ladies have lost a 3rd or more of their normal quantity of hair. Doctors prescribed some of them vitamins or special shampoo - caprasal or cole tar….which helped slightly with scalp irritation or dry skin conditions. But their hair kept thinning.
I had noticed my hair had thinned a bit mainly at the temples over the last few years - I am 49, THEN horror of all horrors my hair started to fall out at an alarming rate! I looked at photos of my mum when she was my age, (now 72)… her hair was full and healthy looking. Her hair is still manageable but very thin. I PANICKED, I love my hair.
I got on the internet and after a lot of searching and hours of reading I decided The Belgravia Centre seemed the most professional and well put together web site. I phoned Thursday afternoon and got an appointment at the clinic in London at 1 pm the following day.
The lady I spoke to on the phone was informative, sympathetic, friendly, and understanding.
I went to the clinic the next day and took the view, although I was sceptical, that I had got more to lose (MY HAIR) than the cost of treatment.
I had a scalp examination, advice and diagnosis of Female pattern hair loss and a therapeutic scalp treatment that very day, I was also given treatment to take home for the Psoriasis which I have from time to time at the back of my head. I was told I would receive the Belgravia pharmacy’s Minoxidil + MPG lotion and to use it twice a day, but that my hair would grow back and stay…. and it has, I have more hair than I have had for years.
My confidence is improved and numerous customers are saying how good and thick my hair is getting. The photos you see here are results after 5 months treatment, I feel it is even fuller 9 months on, and I will update the photos when I next visit Belgravia.

Question: Can you still dye your hair when using treatments?
Answer: Although excessive dying of the hair can cause dryness and breakage, it will not cause hair loss from the roots. So yes, you can continue to dye your hair whilst using treatments for hair loss although excessive colouring is not recommended.

“I am really pleased with the results I am getting with this treatment. The current hair I have is thick and firm. New hair is eventually appearing and after shedding it is returning thicker with a longer life cycle.
I am pleased with the service I received by all members of staff with an immediate response. My great satisfaction with this treatment medication is the fact that it truly does what I am being told by the trichologist. I am hoping to stick with the medication as long as I can.
This truly is an incredible and amazing experience, WELL DONE!”

Male pattern baldness can start early. It’s driven by testosterone, and young men have lots of that.
Whether you are susceptible to this type of hair loss or not is down to a mixture of genes from both sides of the family. The point is, nowadays male pattern baldness can almost always be stopped and frequently reversed.
Hair is produced by hair follicles set deep into our skin, so they remain when old skin sloughs off. Hair cycles through three stages: growth, rest and shedding, then the hair growth begins again. How long that whole cycle takes determines how long your hair can grow in that part of your body. So, eyebrow follicles have a short cycle, scalp ones longer. Hair naturally falls out at the end of the rest period and loss of around a hundred hairs a day from the scalp is normal.
The effect of testosterone on hair follicles in male pattern baldness is that after each cycle, the follicle is weaker, the hair is thinner and in the end the follicle ceases to function. The result is baldness on the top of the head as male pattern baldness does not affect the back or sides.

So what’s the solution to male pattern baldness? The most important advice is to act early. Follicles that have ceased are hard, if not impossible, to coax back to life, whereas weak follicles can be helped.
The Belgravia Centre provides an effective hair loss solution by designing a custom hair loss treatment plan for each client, starting with a full assessment by a professional trichologist.
The secret to Belgravia’s successful hair loss solution is that it combines everything that has been identified to halt hair loss and promote hair regrowth. It’s that combination, together with regular monitoring, that enables The Belgravia Centre to achieve the results we do.
Our in-house pharmacy provides the most effective, low cost hair loss treatments with two effective and approved drugs, Propecia and/or Minoxidil, at the centre of most hair loss solutions. We often complement those drugs with other products such as medroxyprogesterone (MPG) and azelaic acid as we’ve found the combination works well. Of course, we still offer a free laser comb or Hair Vitalics hair supplement, specialist shampoos, herbal supplements, and in-clinic treatments.
For those who can’t get to our London hair loss clinic, you can submit an ON-LINE DIAGNOSTIC FORM for Belgravia’s optimum hair loss treatment combinations by post.
The hair loss industry has a poor history and a reputation for offering ineffective remedies so the public is right to be sceptical. Used correctly, modern tested and approved drugs can however offer a real chance of a cure, but it works better if you act early - so the best time to act is now.

For the people it affects, hair loss is a big problem. The great news is, nowadays there’s usually a way to stop it. At the Belgravia Centre, we successfully treat thousands of people with hair loss every year.
The most common condition we see is male pattern baldness which is the result of inheriting hair follicles that are sensitive to testosterone. Unsurprisingly, the equivalent for women is called female pattern hair loss. It has the same cause but looks slightly different… where men have a receding hairline and bald spot, usually ending in complete baldness on the top of the head, women get thinning hair over the top of the head that will not usually result in complete baldness, just loss of hair density.
The third of our top-three hair loss conditions is alopecia areata which presents as the loss of hair in patches. Affecting about one in a thousand people, it is possible that it might just go away, or it could progress. It’s classed as an auto-immune issue, but no-one’s quite got to the bottom of this one.
The problem with hair loss treatment is a legacy image from the seventies and eighties when many remedies weren’t remedies at all, and unscrupulous clinics were regularly exposed in the media. What’s changed is partly that men are less embarrassed about grooming and wanting to look their best so these things get talked about more, but most importantly, there are effective treatments available… the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the USA approves drugs including hair loss treatments to ensure their safety and effectiveness.
There are currently just two FDA-approved hair loss drugs. Minoxidil (approved for both men and women) promotes increased blood supply to the scalp, whereas Propecia (only approved for men) stops testosterone affecting the hair follicles. Having treated thousands of cases every year, Belgravia finds the most effective treatment programme is usually a combination of these drugs with a number of additional therapies.
No single drug or treatment works as well as a combined programme that addresses every cause and mechanism we can. How can we do that but remain affordable? We have our own pharmacy, and we only prescribe treatments that work. Plus, we at the Belgravia Centre continually monitor each of our clients with HAIR LOSS PHOTO-SCANS so we can assess progress and make adjustments as necessary.

For many hair loss treatment programmes we provide a free FDA-cleared laser comb or a free 12 month supply of HAIR VITALICS (for a limited period), and we also provide a number of helpful additional in-clinic services such as in-house and home-use scalp treatments.
To ensure we achieve what we aim for… providing the most effective, affordable, professional and popular hair loss service available, we send out secret shoppers to find out what other hair centres are offering and how much they charge - check out our latest HAIR CLINIC TREATMENT AND PRICE COMPARISON.
For those who can get into London, the Belgravia Centre offers a full hair loss treatment service. For the many who can’t, we also offer online diagnosis and treatment by post with our ONLINE DIAGNOSTIC FORM.
The problem we see most often is that people don’t believe it’s possible to do anything much about thinning hair, a receding hairline, bald spots and so on. Those beliefs are now out of date. Today there are modern, approved, effective treatments for hair loss. We have the world’s largest collection of ‘before and during treatment’ HAIR GROWTH PHOTOS as proof of this. The main message is to act early - hair loss can often be stopped and possibly reversed, however once an area is completely bald it becomes much more difficult to treat. So our advice is to act quickly.

“Am glad and very happy for Belgravia and what they have done for me. I came to this centre last July 2007 after seeing my NHS Doctor who told me that they cannot do anything for my hair loss. I went on the internet and after searching, filled in the online diagnostic form, and after starting the treatment, I have seen my hair amazingly grow normally back to its near normal state.
I am thankful and would recommend anyone to give it a try. Thank you Belgravia and my confidence is back.”

Question: I am a male aged 26 and losing hair at a fast rate. I was so concerned that I visited a clinic that advertises in the paper (not yours) and was shocked when they told me the cost would be £1200 for six months treatment. When I looked at your site I saw your comparison chart of your costs against some other companies.
As yours look a lot lower does it mean the treatment isn’t as good? To be honest I felt I was being ripped off as the guy was a bit pushy and that also put me off. Can you help as I am nervous and quite sceptical even though it was a friend who mentioned your name?
Answer: When costs are low, the first thing that most people naturally think is that the product purchased won’t be as good as a more expensive option. In the case of Belgravia’s treatment courses this is not the case and I will explain why.
It’s an unfortunate fact that many of the hair loss organisations in the UK aim to make as much money as possible with little effort. Most of the centres do not offer the medically proven treatments for hair loss as they don’t have the medical facilities to do so (pharmacy / medical staff). These facilities take a lot of time, money and effort to set up and in the case of a pharmacy, need to be overlooked by certain regulatory bodies.
The fact is, as well as having all of these facilities, which ensures we are able to provide the optimum level of treatment and service, Belgravia genuinely aims to make the products offered as reasonable as possible to the consumer. We’re not looking to make maximum profits from individual patients, but prefer to help a higher number of people at lower costs; this is why Belgravia has the largest client base of any single medical hair loss centre in Europe.
We guarantee that the Belgravia Centre offers the most effective hair loss treatment courses available whilst ensuring safety. These treatment courses include the medically proven treatments for hair loss specially combined to suit the individual, treatment course boosters, and other services for which you can find more information on the HAIR LOSS TREATMENTS page.
Although it may seem difficult to believe, these treatment courses offer better value than all of the most advertised centres in the UK - you can see details of this on the HAIR CLINIC PRICE COMPARISON PAGE. In most cases not only are the treatments offered by Belgravia more effective, but the price is considerably lower.
